Astrology Forecast for February 2023

This month I’ll be focusing on the New Moon in Leo and sign changes for Mercury and Venus.
To better understand where in your life you might feel these transits, look to see in which houses Leo, Aquarius and Venus fall. The topics of those houses will be more likely to express the qualities of these transits for you. They are more likely to be noticeable if the Sun, Moon, Mercury or Venus are conjunct, square or in opposition to any of your natal planets.
FULL MOON IN LEO
The month kicks off with a Full Moon in Leo on 5th February. A New Moon can bring insights and revelations, shining its cosmic light on matters. It can be a period of fulfilment or culmination of what was started or planned under the earlier New and First Quarter phases.
In Leo, matters to do with identity, self, or leadership may be highlighted and how this affects your emotional needs, or the circumstances of everyday life. It might be a time where you feel called to shine or take a more prominent position. Perhaps a promotion is due, you finally reach a goal, or you may just find some much needed clarity around these topics.
As the Moon is sitting opposite the Sun in Aquarius, it may be a time of getting to grips with how your individual expression or will can be exercised in tandem with a consideration for the ideals or needs of the people around you. So relationships could really come into focus, and how you can let your individual emotional and mental expression shine, whilst having to take on board other people’s goals, or factor in relationship responsibilities. This Full Moon offers an opportunity to really get to grips with this.
MERCURY IN AQUARIUS
Mercury ends its stint in Capricorn on the 11th, moving into Aquarius where it will stay for the rest of the month. It’s still under Saturn’s domain, but being in an air sign brings a feeling of more possibility for movement and change compared to its recent time in Capricorn.
Ideas and communications about social interactions, norms and responsibilities could arise, perhaps with themes of independence versus tradition, structure and rules. Questions may arise as to how you express ideas or communicated in a group environment, and how those ideas benefit or support your relationships or wider social connections. Discussion or developments around being part of a group (or being excluded or separate from it) could emerge too.
There could be developments in commerce or tech regarding communication, ideas or visions for the future and perhaps how these areas of life benefit some groups whilst not others. Or how best to move forward to create a better foundation for the future with these. On a personal level perhaps you decide to re-evaluate or get improvements for some tech or equipment you have so that it better supports your everyday practical needs, and find yourself spending time comparing specs to get the right fit for you. Communication across social divisions and where one stands regarding ideas or ideals could also become highlighted. This play out on social media for example, or in communities you belong to.
Saturn being co-present in it’s own home here lends ample support for setting the groundwork for plans or ideas that arise this month, as long as time is taken to pay attention to the details and be clear about what’s involved or possible. Effort put in now is likely to be rewarded later.
This transits spills over into March with Mercury conjunct Saturn on the 2nd, intensifying Mercury’s work in Aquarius.
VENUS IN ARIES
The final transit of interest this month is Venus’ ingress into Aries from Pisces on the 20th of February. This transition leaves Venus feeling less than comfortable, as she’ll lose her exalted dignity and move into detriment. She’s far away from her home sign of Libra and in aversion to both Pisces and Taurus.
So it certainly marks a qualitative shift in Venusian energy. You might feel this change in your creative pursuits or in relationships. Gone is the slower moving dreamy, connective, abundant, emotional, even spiritual quality of Venus in Pisces that flavoured the earlier part of the month. In comes a more edgier and bold expression.
Venus in Aries will be trying to express her sense of aesthetics and beauty and desire to create harmony and unity through Mars’ propensity for quick action, independence, confrontation and exercise of self will. It may take a bit more work this month to keep negative friction at bay between these qualities. It may require being more more mindful of not creating tensions in relationships, perhaps due to being impulsive or less thoughtful than normal. On the other hand, if bringing more passion and zest into a relationship is what’s needed, now will be the time to do that. If you do need to exert your individuality or independence in a relationship or social sphere, or to speak to up on behalf of others, this transit supports that.
The dynamic energy of Mars can also give a needed push during this time to explore or initiate those creative pursuits you may have been planning but haven’t got round to yet. The Venus ingress comes on the heels of a New Moon in Pisces, a perfect time for new undertakings or sowing the seed of projects that have a creative or imaginative quality. If you have any creative projects already underway the Martian influence on Venus is helpful in exploring more radical, unfamiliar, darker, intense forms of artistry. If you’ve been wanting to be more vivacious, passionate, feisty, risky, or courageous in your expressions, now’s the time!
Jupiter’s presence in Aries is a bonus, lending a sense of optimism and support for exploring relationships and artistic pursuits with drive and enthusiasm. This will peak on 2nd March when Venus conjuncts Jupiter.
