New Moon in Libra – September 2022

A new cycle of the Moon starts Libra on 26th September as it meets up with the Sun in the sign of Libra. Libra is one of the domiciles of Venus, the planet of love, harmony and beauty. Venus works to unify things in a way that brings balance, ease and pleasure. She brings friendships, romance, and the pleasures and beauties in life that give pleasure to the senses such as art, music, good food, or physical comfort. In Libra there is an emphasis on negotiation, diplomacy and compromise, so these will be strong these this month.
Libra, an air sign, has a focus is on equilibrium, which includes justice and fairness. It’s a socially oriented sign with an aesthetic appreciation of balance and form and beauty too.
So this New Moon brings a beautiful opportunity to sow some seeds for new creative projects, or start working on new ideas for bringing more artistry, elegance or refinement into your world. Maybe you’ve been thinking about starting a new creative hobby, or redecorating a room in your home – now would be a great time to put that in motion.
It’s also a great time for new starts around relationships. If you’ve been wanting to meet new people Venus will bring her blessings to that. If new changes need to be made in existing relationships in order to strengthen them, and bring a renewed sense of togetherness and harmony, the energies of this New Moon will lend a helping hand.
Being in a tropical sign, this phase will also bring a sense of renewed enthusiasm, energy, and desire to get going on things, which of course is really helpful when starting something new. So make the most of that energy and get the ball rolling!
At the same time, the New Moon in Libra will receive a dose of Jupiterian energy as it’ll be exactly opposite to Jupiter in Aries on the 26th. This will imprint some of Jupiter’s gorgeous beneficence into the phase, along with more energy, drive and focus from this Mars ruled sign. It’s the planet of generosity, growth, abundance, philosophy and spirituality. It can bring a sense of optimism and possibility, and inspires a sense of adventure and desire to go beyond what we already know and expand our horizons.
In Aries this comes with a fiery, wilful energy, and a drive or zeal to get things done. That strength can be really useful to help us get things started. But this is an opposition, so there needs to be an awareness of not pushing too hard or too fast, or becoming domineering. It might feel like a time where there’s a push and pull between exerting your will and dominance whilst having to be mindful of how that affects others and the world around you, and what the results of that might be. Remember, Libra is the house of Venus who wants harmony and connection, not conflict. So it may need some mindfulness and effort to maintain that tension and equilibrium between the two qualities whilst still being able to initiate your new plans and projects.
The opposition adds an expansive and optimistic energy into the mix. It will add a flavour of focus, determination, and a feeling that we can achieve goals we set into motion, and be successful with what initiate during this time. It will push and encourage us to look outward to possibilities we might not previously have considered as we make a start. This could feel challenging but will be well worth the effort.
Jupiter is in it’s retrograde stage, but as one of the slower moving planets it’s retrograde energies may not be as palpable or feel as acute as those of Venus or Mercury. Nevertheless, it will encourage wisdom by reflecting or revisiting what we have done, or what’s gone before, and using that knowledge as a foundation for approaching what comes next. What a wonderful time to start new projects and approaches on an improved footing!
Don’t forget, how this Libra New Moon energy influences you will depend very much on your natal chart – which house Libra is on and any other planetary influences in or to that house.
